Decentralized electricity storage
at AB InBev
With the installation of battery storage solutions, the world's leading brewing company Anheuser-Busch InBev is taking an important step towards sustainability. In cooperation with EDF power solutions, battery storage systems will be installed at four locations in Germany. In 2023, the first battery storage system was put into operation at Beck's in Bremen. In addition, three more battery storage systems will be installed at Spaten-Löwenbräu in Munich, at Hasseröder in Wernigerode, and at Diebels in Issum.
Anheuser-Busch InBev has signed a ten-year contract with EDF power solutions Deutschland: EDF power solutions offers a full-service package from planning to installation and operation, and also covers the investment costs.

‘In our four German breweries, we can significantly reduce our energy costs by implementing these high-performance battery storage systems. Especially since about one-fifth of our electricity costs are attributed to the grid fees of the utilities, which are likely to continue to rise. Particularly during peak-loads, the new battery storage systems show significant impact due to their high efficiency.’
Beck's Bremen
In November 2023 the battery storage system in Bremen was commissioned. The battery is designed to supply the production plant with 1.6 MW for at last an hour.

Construction of the storage system in Munich
Diebels Issum
A storage system with a capacity of 300 kW is being built at the Diebels brewery in Issum. Completion and commissioning for the project are planned for 2025.
